GRIFFIN IS A MAGGOT FEASTING ON A WOUND
INTERRAGATOR: John Osborne being interviewed by John Freeman on Face to Face
Friday October 30,2009
I really did want the BBCs televisual confrontation with the toad-like Nick Griffin last week to be remarkable. Instead it was just the usual dross. Of the three politicians two were the habitual platitude factories with Jack Straw droning on and on with party political broadcasts and Chris Huhne stressing that he disapproved of racism wow!
I was less than surprised. Baroness Warsi tried to be innovative but did not have the skills to demolish her target. Bonnie Greer is no doubt a lovely lady and writer but not a rapier-tongued speaker. Then it was entirely the wrong arena. The way to reduce a street-corner bully-boy to a grease-spot on the Axminster is not a baying audience (even more predictable) but to put him head-to-head with a forensic brain that would reveal his essential dimness.
This was never done better than by the brilliant John Freeman interviews of long ago called Face To Face. Now that was an interrogator. No one in the hall, save for a tentative stab from Baroness Warsi, went to the core. What was the man doing there? Answer: he was there because last June an appallingly large number voted for him and his BNP won two Euro seats. But why did so many vote for him? Because they and they are not alone were sick and tired of the status quo.
Nick Griffin is like the maggot feasting on a festering wound. You do not blame the maggot; its what they do. You disinfect and suture the wound. What wound? The open wound that is wrecking our society.
I analyse it at three levels. In 70 years I have never seen the establishment held in such loathing by the broad masses of the people. And I have never seen our governors treat the governed with such contempt. For democracy and homeland that is deeply unhealthy. And it leads to level two.
I have never seen our people so utterly disillusioned, disenchanted and demoralised, so devoid of self-confidence, self-esteem, quiet pride and sense of self-worth.
And level three? We seem to head every league table of shame. The most violent, the most abusive, the most foul-mouthed, the most drunk, the most drug-abusing people in Europe. Add top of the division for teenage pregnancies; teen abortions; teenage single mothers; venereal disease; divorce; child abuse; yobbery; and vandalism without hindrance.
This nadir of our fortunes derives from 20 years of bad government, dedicated to appeasement and capitulation abroad, betrayal of our soldiery, dedication to self, grotesque enrichment while in public office and deliberate no-limits mass immigration. The past 12 years have been the worst in a century, die-stamped by the personality of the most shameless liar who ever entered Downing Street and who is now tipped to become EU president.
Can David Cameron suture this wound? He says he will try. It would take a nerve of steel and blood of ice but thanks largely to Gordon Brown he is already crippled by a trillion pounds of debt. But if he could close the wound the maggots would simply wriggle away to that oblivion for which nature so amply equipped them.
What has been missed out from the above is the prospect of a real revolution, there is no law in our land, the police are only concerned with the rich and famous, the politicians fill their boots on our money, the public has no recourse to justice etc. etc.---------------revolution. |
