When was the last time you saw a cabinet minister get it in the neck because of some poor decision he made, some catastrophic error of judgement that ruined hundreds or thousands of lives?

Never happen at worst they will have to apoligise or even resign and then he would be shuffled to some other government post, he will get away scot free.

If a business man screwed up or a captain of a ship his livelihood is on the line but not ministers or politicians, why is this?

We need to introduce a level of accountability into government by linking every politicians fortunes intimately with those of the nation.

If the chancellor of the exchequer wastes taxpayers money recklessly, on some stupid idea, then instead of him using more of the peoples money to put things right he should contribute a large sum out of his own pocket towards his error, or jail.

The defence secretary, in the event of a war should have his nearest and dearest flown out to the front line that way it is kin and not someone elses at risk, he would be more inclined to choose a dIplomatic solution.

The Home secretary should be made to live in the most run down, crime ridden housing estate in the land, I bet policing problems would be solved in no time at all.

The Health secretary should never be allowed to go private, nor his family, for an operation, he would ensure the NHS was fit for purpose.

The Transport Minister should be made to travel everywhere by bus or train as ordinary people do, this would ensure public transport ran on time and was up to scratch.

You will be getting the idea behind it by now, by implementing it you would only get people who are willing to do something for the country as politicians and not out to feather their nests as they are now and have been for donkeys years.

You would also get people who have had real work experience behind them and not some millionaires son or daughter who have never had to rough it.

You might think that people would not put themselves forward for a job where they are held accountable but they would, are not the people working in the private sector not held accountable for their actions?

The public sector is another debate.

What I feel would happen in this scenario is the beginning of the end for political parties, their hangers on and their pay masters ,which is excellent news for the country.
