Nine out of ten jobs created last year went to foreign nationals

Nine out of ten people who joined the workforce last year were foreign nationals, official figures revealed yesterday.

The number is far higher than had been previously thought.
British nationals accounted for only a tiny fraction of the rise in employment among working age people with most new workers being immigrants.

Last night experts warned there could be a jobless recovery for British workers unless ministers get to grips with immigration.
Warning: The lack of new roles being filled by British nationals means the country could end up in a 'jobless recovery'
Chancellor George Osborne frequently points out that Britain has achieved one of the best records for job creation among developed countries in the past 12 months.

More...A deeply divided kingdom: Scots each get 1,600 more state cash a year spent on them than the English

The new figures raise questions about whether the Governments drive to get millions off benefits and into work can be achieved without further curbs on immigration. They will also increase pressure to reform the bloated benefits system.

The figures, produced by the Office for National Statistics, reveal that employment among working age people rose by 181,000 in the Coalitions first year. Yet employment levels among British nationals rose by just 14,000, or less than 8 per cent of the total.

Employment among non-UK nationals rose by 163,000 during the period equal to more than 90 per cent of the total.

Tory MP Priti Patel said the revelations should should ring alarm bells in Downing Street.

She said: There is a very real concern about the number of British jobs which are going to foreign nationals. Clearly we have got to do something about this urgently if we are going to succeed in the aim of getting British people back into work.

There is an opportunity now, with the economic recovery underway, to tackle this in a much more structured way. It is vital that we do, because if we are going to have a buoyant economy we need to make sure British people on benefits get back into employment.

'Alarm bells': Priti Patel MP has voiced concern over the number of foreigners taking up new jobs
Sir Andrew Green, chairman of the think tank Migration Watch UK, said: Individual statistical methods do not always reveal what is going on because there are so many different factors involved, but the situation is now crystal clear a huge proportion of new jobs created in the economy are going to foreign nationals.

'We really must now improve the skills and incentives for British nationals while also reducing foreign immigration where we can.

Otherwise, from the point of view of British workers, this risks becoming a jobless recovery.
Worse, it could condemn a lot of British workers, especially among the young, to many years of unemployment. The latest figures were compiled by the ONS on behalf of the Spectator magazine.

Unlike previous statistical releases they focus on employment levels among working age people stripping out the large increase in employment among British nationals aged over 65.

Between 1997 and 2010, more than half of the rise in employment in the UK was accounted for by foreign nationals.

The latest figures suggest that the situation has become even more stark as the economic recovery slowly gets underway.

The revelation will strengthen the hand of Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith who broke Cabinet ranks last month by warning that a fresh generation of young men and women will be condemned to a life on benefits without tougher measures to stem the flow of migrant workers.

A low wage here to a British Citizen can seem like a fortune to a East European or immigrants from other regions of the world. It's not just happening in this country but all over Europe. Whether it be the non skilled European picking fruit or the skilled European cleaning, etc, they are earning a lot more than they would at home. As for the BC, just take a look in the job centre and see what is being offered. I even remember seeing jobs under the minimum wage being advertised. Yesterday we had the 'shortage of affordable housing' headlines. As a British Citizen would I be first on the list, answer - no. Families from abroad would be first as children would be involved in many cases. They say are economy is helped by immigration, can we quickly dispel this myth. Do we think the immigrant spends their money here in the UK or sends as much home as possible?

The only way out of this mess is to leave the EU as soon as possible but our government is going to sign away everything we have in november 2014 so we will be under their thumb, time for a real revolt and hang the slime who have done this to our country.

UK NEWS
1 IN 3 HELD AT YOUTH PRISON IS A FOREIGNER

Feltham Young Offenders Institute in west London
Wednesday August 31,2011
By Anil Dawar ONE in three offenders locked up in Britains biggest youth jail last year was foreign-born.

Somalis are the largest group, followed by Romanians and Jamaicans, which make up more than 600 of the 2,000 inmates at Feltham Young Offenders Institute in west London.

Sir Andrew Green, chairman of campaign group MigrationWatch, said: Clearly the efforts made to integrate these people from immigrant communities have failed.

The Prison Service figures, released after a Freedom of Information request, are for offenders aged 10 to 18 who entered the jail from January 2010 to April 2011.

Out of 2,081, some 632 were born overseas. Of those, 63 one in 10 were Somalis. Another 48 were Romanians, 41 Jamaicans, 26 from Afghanistan, and 24 from Nigeria.

Also in the prisons top 10 foreigners list, 21 offenders were from Algeria and the same number from Lithuania. A total of 48 came from Congo, Ireland and Portugal.

Under UK law, overseas nationals sentenced to more than 12 months can be considered for deportation but not if they are under 17.

Last night, an extraordinary row broke out after the charity Somali Action on Youth Crime claimed that the figures were biased.

Director Mustafa Ibrahim said: Government forms dont distinguish between Somalis and people from other parts of Africa, so Somalis get blamed for crimes by other people.

But a Prison Service spokesman denied the claim, insisting that other African prisoners are not classed as Somalis. He said: Feltham YOI does not classify African prisoners as Somali this is categorically untrue.

Prisons have a self-reporting system where arriving prisoners are asked to state their nationality and place of birth.

Another reason to get out of the EU and close our borders, kick all these foreigners out, they should not be here.
