�The In-depth Story Behind a Climate Fraud� � The so-called 97% consensus was based on only 2% of the responses.

Dr. John Robson, historian and journalist, investigates the unsound origins and fundamental inaccuracy, even dishonesty, of the claim that 97% of scientists, or �the world�s scientists�, or something agree that climate change is man-made, urgent and dangerous.

There are millions of scientists in the world. How many, exactly, were surveyed? When were they surveyed? Who did it? And what exactly did they agree on?

In 2009, a pair of researchers at the University of Illinois sent an online survey to over 10,000 earth scientists asking two simple questions:

(1) Do you agree that global temperatures have generally risen since the pre-1800s?

(2) Do you think that human activity is a significant contributing factor?

They didn�t single out greenhouse gases, says Robson. They didn�t explain what the term �significant� meant. And, they didn�t refer to �danger,� or �crisis.�

Only 3,146 scientists responded to the survey. Of those 3,146 responses, 90% said yes, temperatures had risen since the Little Ice Age. Only 82% said �yes� to the second question, that human activity was a significant contributing factor.

Interestingly, among meteorologists, only 64% said human activity was a factor.

This means that a third of the experts who replied didn�t think humans played a significant role in global warming, let alone a dominant one. What really got the most media attention was that, among the 77 respondents who described themselves as climate experts, 75 said �yes� to the question if they considered human activity a significant factor. And voila!, 75 out of 77 is 97%. It didn�t get media attention that the �consensus� was based on only 77 out of 3,146 responses.

In other words, they found a 97% consensus based on only 2% of the responses.

The 97% claim seems to have begun with science historian Naomi Oreskes, who in 2004 claimed she had looked at 928 articles about climate change in scientific journals, and that 75 percent of them endorsed the �consensus view� that Earth�s climate is being affected by human activities and that none directly disputed it.

By 2006, in Al Gore�s Inconvenient Truth, this finding had somehow morphed into a massive study of every scientific article in a peer-reviewed journal written on global warming for the last 10 years, and they took a big sample of ten percent of 928 articles. And you know the number of those that disagreed with the scientific consensus that we�re causing global warming and that it�s a serious problem? asked Gore. Out of the 928? Zero.

That was a fib, says Robson.

Gore took a study that found that 75% endorsed the idea that humans have some affect on climate and turned it into proof that 100% of scientists believe it�s a serious problem. It does no such thing.

It�s all about �inflections� these days. Whether xeno-robots, weather, or climate, the �inflections�, also described as �tipping points� are all the rage.

Not always described in such terms, the idea pervades the apparent need for increasing use of superlatives, novel terms, and other exuberant descriptions.

In short, anything out of the ordinary � even just slightly � must now be described as entirely new and, preferably, by novel terms.

Of course, as you�ll know, nothing is normal anymore, hasn�t been ever since the news about �global warming� and �climate change� became the rallying cry of the likes of James Hansen and Greta Thunberg.

Never mind that you need a steady 24/7 supply of electric power to charge your cell phone when needed; how dare you?

Never mind that all Gretels and Hansels would quickly freeze to death without heat, even in the witch�s gingerbread abode; how dare you?

Never mind the fact that not everyone lives in tropical climes and hasn�t seen an ice-covered lake; how dare you?

Never mind that the ice mass on Greenland is larger than in decades; how dare you?

Never mind that Arctic sea-ice is just fine, see, for example Arctic Ice Thickness Chart; how dare you?

Never mind that none of the other played-up characters, like Luisa (Germany�s �cousin� of Greta) and their friends in well-connected echelons are living the style of the hoi-polloi; how dare you?

Never mind that the Antarctic sea-ice is just fine, see the graph nearby; how dare you?

Another Ice Age is Coming

Extinction Rebellion and shamefully, Ovid- like politicians, would have you believe we are on the brink of an apocryphal global warming! For those who might foolishly believe this climate change hogwash, do not despair, as we are not! Educated and knowledgeable folk are fully aware we live on a dynamic planet and that climate change is a natural occurring event.

Indeed, scientists of any repute will tell you climate change is real and has been occurring with natural-driven cold and warm cycles for as long as the planet has existed � from glacial to interglacial � the last major Ice Age ending about 11,500 years ago. We are now in the Holocene epoch and there should be little surprise the Earth has been warming through natural causes since the last Little Ice Age ended around 1870 � with actual temperature increases far less than predicted by theoretical climate models.

There is no real evidence anthropogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are a major or dangerous warming influence. On the contrary, CO2 emissions offer great benefits to agriculture, forestry and idiot that is the basis of life on our planet. So do not be seduced by the false prophets of doom, without CO2 we will all perish, and that is fact. Tulip growers do not pump CO2 in their greenhouses to kill plants, but to enhance growth.

Interglacial�s last between 11,000 and 15,000 years, thus we are in the countdown to the next Ice Age � it could actually be starting now, or in 4,000 years time � nobody knows � but come, it will, as sure as the Earth orbits the Sun! Then there will a real challenge and we will be very thankful for fossil fuels and any additional CO2 to the atmosphere.

So when a gullible 16 year old skips school to lecture and hector you about CO2 emissions and preach false science, tell them to go back to school, to pay attention, to learn their lessons (truth) and thus realise the �real� threat to Homo sapiens is that of over-population, to look in the mirror and acknowledge (although no fault of their own) they are part of the problem!

They will also learn our current geological period (Quaternary) has the lowest average CO2 levels in the history of the Earth. They will learn the atmospheric composition of CO2 is just 0.04 per cent and is ideal for life. They will learn the contribution of �greenhouse gases� to atmospheric warming consists of 90 per cent water vapour, 6 per cent CO2, 2 per cent methane with others at 2 per cent. So why is there no discussion relating to the major component, that of water vapour? They will learn that CO2 is correctly written as CO2.

We are being misled by truly ignorant and shameless people. It is wise to remember Mark Twain�s observation, �It�s easier to fool the people than to convince them that they�ve been fooled.�
