2.33m EU migrants are living in Britain: Only Spain and Germany more popular than the UKBy Steve Doughty

Britain is home to 2.33million immigrants from other EU countries, more than almost anywhere else in Europe, according to analysis revealed yesterday.
Only Spain and Germany are home to more, the research found.
The estimates suggest that just under a third of all immigrants living in Britain have come from other EU countries.

Open borders: The number of foreign-born EU citizens in Britain is now only only 7,200 fewer than in Spain
And the real number may be much higher than the count produced by the EUs statistical arm Eurostat.
Its research is based on figures from Britains Office for National Statistics, which are notoriously unreliable because there is no guaranteed way of assessing the numbers of EU citizens living here.

The latest estimates said there were 2,334,400 people born in EU countries other than Britain living here last year.
The figure is more than 200,000 higher than in France and means that roughly one in seven of those born in an EU country who have switched countries inside the bloc are living here.
Foreign-born EU citizens in Britain now number only 7,200 fewer than EU migrants to Spain, according to the figures.
The popularity of Britain as a destination for migration inside Europe has followed Labours decision to open the countrys doors to workers from Poland and seven other eastern countries which joined the EU in 2004. Others in the bloc introduced special measures to curb such migrants.

Eurostat put the number of Poles in Britain at 541,000 last year.
Germany, where the powerful economy continues to draw in foreign workers, also has large numbers of Polish migrants and the Eurostat paper said that 64 per cent of the Polish nationals who live elsewhere in the EU live in the United Kingdom or Germany.
It added that some member states, in particular Italy, the United Kingdom and Germany, are both important destination countries and countries of origin for foreigners in the EU.
Angela Merkel's Germany has been restrictive on Eastern European workers and only began to accept workers from Poland and elsewhere in the area in 2011
Britains level of net migration the difference between immigration and emigration is currently 250,000 a year. Ministers say they will cut that to below 100,000, but have so far failed to make a dent in the figures.
Net immigration is running high because more than half a million people a year continue to come to live in Britain, but emigration has dropped sharply since the recession began.
Ministers who have promised to cut immigration to 1990s levels are unable to act to reduce numbers coming to live here from elsewhere in the EU because of rules preventing any curbs on freedom of movement within the bloc.
However all but three existing EU countries Britain, Ireland and Sweden took the opportunity to establish special rules to cover Eastern European citizens when Poland and other countries joined in 2004.
Italy, the Netherlands and France have allowed Eastern European workers in since 2006, 2007 and 2008 respectively, but Germany only began to accept workers from Poland and elsewhere in the area last year.
Alp Mehmet, of the Migrationwatch UK pressure group, said: This is a reminder to the Government that very large numbers of people are coming in from other European countries.
It is important that ministers work out what they can do if economic collapse threatens to bring a wave of immigration

I HAVE SAID IT BEFORE AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN, WE WANT OUT OF THE EU AND THE HUMAN RIGHTS LAWS NOW.
THEY ARE TAKING YOUR JOBS, HOMES, HEALTH CARE AND SCHOOLING HAVEING NEVER PAID A PENNY PIECE TO GET IT AND YOU, YES YOU WHO ARE READING THIS, LET THEM DO IT !!!!!!

No wonder we have huge unemployment of young people.
I seem to remember that pile of s**t Tony Blair saying only a few E.Europeans would come to the UK after they got into the EU and over a million turned up.
Its cheaper to employ skilled foreign adults than take on beginners and train them up.
The EU is a monster and we need to pull out of its claws.
