BRITAINS LAVISH HANDOUTS ARE A MIGRANT MAGNET

Home Secretary Theresa May
Monday December 10,2012
By Martyn Brown BRITAINS generous welfare handouts act like a magnet to migrants from poorer EU countries, a report claimed yesterday.

It warns that the UKs very open benefits system is a huge incentive for foreigners wanting to come and live here.

The study comes after MPs were told last week the number of Romanians and Bulgarians in Britain could nearly treble from 155,000 to 425,000 when restrictions on their movement are lifted at the end of next year.

Migration Watch UK claims that the generosity of work and unemployment benefits makes that very likely.

In a speech this week Home Secretary Theresa May will announce measures to help meet David Camerons promise to reduce net migration to 100,000 by 2015.

Official figures last month showed that net migration levels to the UK have fallen significantly in the past year.

Net migration the balance between the number of people who come to live long-term in Britain and the number leaving fell from 242,000 to 183,000 in the year to March.

This makes employment in the UK a very attractive option for migrants from poorer EU member states
Sir Andrew Green, chairman of Migration Watch UK

This reduction was mainly because of a fall in the number of foreign nationals studying in the UK.

The Governments crackdown will include rooting out fraud by making all non-EU applicants for student visas attend face-to-face interviews with embassy staff.

Home Office officials welcomed the analysis by Migration Watch of statistics from the OECD, a respected international economic body, outlining income, tax and welfare benefits in 15 EU countries.

It shows Britain has the fourth most generous system in benefits to low-income workers such as housing, child and other payments.

Using OECD figures, the study says that a man with a wife and two children earning 50 per cent of the average wage will have gross pay of 17,150. After deductions of 2,135 in income tax and 1,258 National Insurance, the family is left with 13,757.

They will then get 3,952 housing benefit, 6,897 in family-related benefits and 416 work-related benefits.

The total net take-home pay, including the benefits uplift, is 25,022 82 per cent higher than the post-tax pay. Only Luxembourg (92 per cent), Ireland (85 per cent) and Denmark (286 per cent) have more generous benefits.

When the relative cost of living is accounted for, UK workers on 50 per cent of the average wage are second only to Luxembourg in how much they get in benefits.

Access to unemployment benefits is also easier. UK newcomers can get them without making a prior contribution unlike claimants in the other 14 EU countries.

Sir Andrew Green, chairman of Migration Watch UK, said: We found that the UK is far more generous than most other EU countries. This makes employment in the UK a very attractive option for migrants from poorer EU member states.

Deven Ghelani, of the Centre for Social Justice, said it was wrong to assume that welfare payments were the main draw attracting immigrants.

Another foreigner trying to tell you that they dont come for the money. get out of the EU and send all the foreigners back home.

The question is "what do you do when they get here"?
They will want work--------sorry they will want money, housing, free medical and schooling and they will steal everything in sight.
You could go out shopping one day and come back to find your home taken over by these people and you would have to go to court to remove them, mean while free house , heat and run up your bills.
You may think it is a joke but they will have more rights than you ever will, this only leaves fighting for your homes, jobs, country,
WILL YOU?
NO I THOUGHT NOT, YOU DESERVE EVERYTHING THIS GOVERNMENT IS GOING TO GIVE YOU.
