EU MAKES FOOLS OF BRITAIN AGAIN

Prime Minister David Cameron and EU Council President Herman Van Rompuy

DAVID Cameron was last night close to securing a deal to freeze the EU budget but British tax payers could still end up paying more.

The Prime Minister will travel to Brussels tomorrow for a crunch summit with European leaders.

However, while negotiators were understood to be working on plans to freeze spending, it soon emerged that the UKs contribution to the budget could soar due to our annual rebate being slashed.

Anti-Brussels Tory MP Douglas Carswell said: This could be the first budget freeze in history that will see our contribution go up.

Parliament has sanctioned a reduction in the budget. It is disappointing that British negotiators are ignoring that.

Ukip leader Nigel Farage said: If Cameron accepts a deal which freezes the EU budget but increases Britains proportion of that budget then he will earn the eternal contempt of most of the population and almost his entire Parliamentary party.

Mr Cameron will hold talks with EU Council President Herman Van Rompuy and the leaders of the 26 other EU member nations on a seven-year budget framework.

Mr Van Rompuy is proposing a 780billion maximum spending limit for the period 2014 to 2020, which is less than the 795billion limit on the current spending cycle.

British officials are pressing for him to go further and it is thought Mr Van Rompuy will unveil a revised budget plan tomorrow night.

However, actual spending could differ substantially from the seven-year blueprint. And officials recognise that Britains contribution is set to continuing soaring thanks to a deal agreed by Tony Blair to steadily reduce the UKs annual rebate.

Mr Cameron is now braced for fresh demands for our rebate originally won by Margaret Thatcher in 1984 to be cut even further.

Britains net contribution to the EU was 10.3billion last year, according to the Office for National Statistics.

The UKs gross contribution rose by 5.7 per cent to a record 18.5billion, equivalent to 50million every day, compared with the previous year.

But the amount Britain received back in rebate and subsidies fell by almost a quarter to more than 8.1billion a fall of 2.6billion in a year.

A Government spokesman insisted: We are looking to get the best deal for the UK taxpayer. That means holding down the total level of spending and protecting the UKs rebate.

Meanwhile, German news magazine Der Spiegel likened Britain to a gentleman in a swinger club in its dealings with other member states.

It said the Prime Ministers threats to veto the EU budget were undignified and dangerous, adding: David Camerons favourite toy while attending EU summit meetings is his BlackBerry.

He glances at it constantly, almost as though he thinks it can provide him with guidance. Unfortunately, it cannot.

We will end up giving all our money away to the EUUSSR and live our lives, if we are allowed, under their DIKTATS, our homes and jobs will be taken away from us by the illegal immigrants who are allowed their Human rights while you have none, ARE WE STUPID, YES WE ARE AND WE DESERVE EVERYTHING WE GET.
