DAVID Cameron yesterday gave his support to a blackout on revealing how many Romanian and Bulgarian migrants could flood into Britain next year.

Despite mounting pressure, the Prime Minister refused to reveal Whitehall estimates of an influx of immigrants from the two countries when EU labour market controls are relaxed in December.

He backed comments by Communities Secretary Eric Pickles, who warned migration will cause �problems� with housing. Mr Pickles has seen estimates of who would come but refuses to divulge figures. Some 21 million Romanians and eight million Bulgarians will be free to travel and work in Britain.

The relaxation could have a similar effect to when Pol�and and other eastern European countries gained the same rights under Labour in 2004. The scale is also likely to be increased by the economic crisis gripping Europe.

Tory MP Stewart Jackson yesterday voiced backbench concern. �I think the problem is that we don�t want to make the same mistake that we made in 2004, which is to import a very large number of low- wage, low-skilled workers and embed welfare dependencies in our own indigenous workforce,� he said.

�We have not done a proper analysis of the impact of the employment market and the delivery of core public services and community cohesion.�

But Mr Cameron said: �I completely support what Eric Pickles has said, which is don�t make official predictions unless and until you have got real confidence in those figures.

�Eric Pickles took that view [that the figures should not be released yet]. I support that view, until we�re confident, because it�s a very difficult calculation to make,� he added. �If you look at what the calculation was in the case of Poland, it was something like 14,000 � a ridiculously low number � and it turned out to be many many times that, so we don�t want to make that mistake again.�

MPs fear that up to 425,000 migrants from Romania and Bulgaria could move here. Studies put the number of eastern Europeans already in Britain at over a million.

Mr Jackson said Mr Pickles and Mr Cameron needed to �reassure people that potentially 29 million people from Romania and Bulgaria, who are going to have free movement access to this country, are not going to have a significant impact on, say, the employment market.�

Leader of Westminster City Council Philippa Roe said: �We are already dealing with the reality of a continual influx of eastern European migrants.�

Meanwhile, Mr Pickles will use a speech today to demand that immigrants learn English.

There is 750,000 bulgarians already living here using self employment as a means to get in here, BIG ISSUE, we do not have work for our own people never mind the scum from abroad.
