Rotherham child sex abuse scandal: Failings by officials will cost the taxpayer 200m
OFFICIALS who failed to stop Asian gangs preying on young girls for fear of being branded racist are set to cost taxpayers up to 200million.

Rotherham child sex abuse scandal failings by social workers, police and councilLabour have threatened to suspend South Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner Shaun Wright [SWNS]

At least 1,400 girls aged as young as 11 are believed to have been sexually abused in Rotherham, South Yorks, for 16 years by men who viewed them as white trash.

But it is feared the real number could be more than 2,000.

Each victim could now be in line for payouts of 100,000 to 1million as compensation for their ordeal which highly-paid council and police chiefs failed to stop.

One legal firm has already launched compensation proceedings for 15 victims.

David Greenwood, of Switalskis Solicitors, said: In each of the cases Im handling there have been failings by individual social workers, but more importantly weve identified that Rotherham Council and South Yorkshire Police have failed to act on information which could have led to the arrest of perpetrators.

Campaigners said the public purse will now be hit because taxpayers will have to pick up the bill for the shortcomings of top officials.

Andy Silvester, of the TaxPayers Alliance, said: Against the pain and suffering caused by Rotherham Councils dereliction of duty, compensation payments are the least that needs to be done to support the victims.

But it should not be forgotten that throughout this period, taxpayers were funding these services, and their performance was not up to scratch. That failure has cost a lot more than taxpayers money.

Council leader Roger Stone is the only official to have resigned over the scandal so far despite a huge public and political outcry.

Labour threatened to suspend Shaun Wright, South Yorkshires Police and Crime Commissioner, from the party last night unless he quit his 85,000-a-year role. But 160,000-a-year chief executive Martin Kimber insisted there was no one left at the council to blame.

Mr Wright was Rotherham Councils cabinet member for childrens services from 2005 to 2010 as girls were gang-raped, tortured, beaten and trafficked as sex slaves across the north of England.

On Tuesday a report by Professor Alexis Jay revealed how council and police officials ignored the sexual exploitation of girls by Asian gangs because they feared upsetting community cohesion if they intervened.

A Labour party spokesman said: In the light of this report, Shaun Wright should step down.

Home Secretary Theresa May said: Its not my job as Home Secretary to hire and fire police and crime commissioners. The whole point of them is that they are elected by the people.

But I believe his own party have called for him to resign. I believe he has real questions to answer and I think in the circumstances he should heed those calls.

The abuse was highlighted in three separate reports yet Mr Wright yesterday insisted he remained the most appropriate person to hold the commissioners post. He refused to resign even after Professor Jay said: Nobody can say, I didnt know.

Despite frequent warnings from those working with troubled children during his tenure, Mr Wright claimed the scale of the problem in Rotherham had come as a surprise.

Had I known then what I know now I could have done more, he said.

The report by Professor Jay said the collective failures of political, police and social care leadership were blatant over the first 12 years covered by the inquiry.

The inquiry team noted fears among council staff of being labelled racist if they focused on victims descriptions of the majority of abuse.

This is a load of cobblers as all the muslims in Rotherham knew what was going on and did nothing to stop it so in fact they help these rapists -----------time to clear these Muslim paedos, rapists and terrorists out of our country

Rotherham seized files in grooming cover-up

Senior staff at Rotherham council ordered a raid on one of their offices to remove case files and wipe computer records detailing the scale and severity of the towns sex-grooming crisis, sources have told The Times. Details of what frontline staff viewed as a high-level cover-up are revealed today after an independent inquiry which found that 1,400 children fell victim to grotesque levels of violence and abuse in the South Yorkshire town. The Times has learnt that in 2002 an extraordinary raid was carried out at the office of Risky Business, Rotherham councils specialist youth service, which offered one-to-one help and support to vulnerable teenage girls. It took place shortly after senior police and council staff became aware of the contents of the draft report of a 2000-01

The people who done this must be found and sent to court, tried and jailed-------if they are not then the powers that be are giving a green light to Muslims to rape our young girls---------this cannot be allowed ,

Google Pat Condell: Quotes:
I admire anyone who's genuinely trying to achieve spiritual enlightenment and live a peaceful life. But religious dogma is a barrier to that. The last thing a dogmatist wants is for anyone to be enlightened, any more than a pharmaceutical company wants anybody cured. I think we've turned into a society of craven cowards. I hope that doesn't offend. Actually, I hope it does offend ... because, you see, I can still remember the shock of the Rushdie Affair 25 years ago. The very idea that anybody could be killed for writing a book was surreal and horrific. Now we take it for granted that if you say the wrong thing about the religion of peace you'll get death threats and you might actually be killed, so you keep your mouth shut if you know what's good for you. All for the sake of tolerance and diversity, of course. People say, "Well, you only focus on the bad things about Islam", and yes, I have to admit that if you ignore the bad things the aggressive separatism, supremacistic, and social intolerance, the relentless special pleading and phony grievance mongering, the psychopathic level of misogyny, the honor killing and genital mutilation (sanctioned by the Prophet, incidentally), the rabid gay and Jew hatred, the intimidation and censorship, and the constantly present threat of violence over social issues well, there isn't much wrong with Islam, it's perfectly kosher (if you'll pardon the expression). The trouble is, when you take these things away, there's nothing left. Why am I anti-Islam? Well, for the simple reason that Islam is anti-me, and it's anti every fundamental value I hold.
